Thai Wah was founded in 1947 and pioneered cassava starch in Thailand. Roseco is its bioplastics platform, built on nearly eighty years of working with the same crop, across 15 operations in five countries. That is why the chain runs from the farm gate to finished film under one roof.
It also means the material came out of a research programme rather than a trend. A full-time research team, three research institutes, and an agri-biotech platform spanning biomass, bioplastics, bio-composites and biofertiliser, working from genomic sequencing at the feedstock end through to the finished film.
The cassava behind Roseco is grown under the SAI Platform Farm Sustainability Assessment. Thai Wah was the first company to reach FSA Silver for cassava anywhere in Thailand or Southeast Asia, independently assured by SGS, and in 2025 the first in the region to reach FSA Gold, with smallholder farmers across Thailand and Cambodia.
